Chevy 3970010

The block is a 3970010 350 and I will go from there. When i dissassembled the engine I found that the engine had been rebuild already with very low miles on it. The inside is a clean as if I just built it, there is NO top edge on the cylinders and the bearings look great. The pistons look like new except for the carbon on top and are stamped .040.

The number itself can have 6, 7 or 8 numeral digits. They might look like this “361959” or “3970010” or “14015445”. The block casting numbers do not have any letters in them. I have the same casting 3970010. I think it is a 350, but it is in a 1978 Camaro LT that is supposed to have a 305. I tried looking up the number stamped on the pad by passenger side head under the alternator, but I can't find anything on it.
